thinking out loud.
with less than a week away from the wedding, i am:
- obsessing over the weather forecast (so far, so good!)
- relieved that we finally found an apartment. (note: never try to wedding plan and apartment hunt at the same time)
- finishing up last minute projects
- looking forward to seeing family i haven't seen in a while
napa/sf/honeymoon/travel-related thoughts:
- i must go here, here, here, here, and here
- wondering if it will be too hot to take a dip in the mineral pool. in that case, i should pack my bathing suit.
- hoping i won't forget to pack something important like my camera or cell phone charger
- obsessing over the weather forecast
- looking forward to wining and dining at napa, but also looking forward to trying my first in & out burger and indulging my sweet tooth at miette.
- also: what foods can you carry on the plane? over at apartment therapy. clearly, food is very important to me.

Miette is the best! And I totally agree with the rest of your choices of places to visit in SF. I will be hitting up a few of those next time I'm there. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! I can't wait to see photos!
Miette is fabulous. If you're going to be in SF over the weekend, get up early on Saturday and head to the Ferry Building. The farmers market is so much fun. They have all these yummy food booths, we ate Hog Island oysters for breakfast one day! Also, while you're there, if you love cheese, make sure you go to Cowgirl Creamery. Yummy! Their fresh ricotta is work the trip. Also, if you're hungry and want to sit down Taylor's Refresher (http://www.taylorsrefresher.com/) has GREAT burgers and The Slanted Door (http://slanteddoor.com/menus.html) has wonderful Vietnamese food. Also, if you want to get dressed up and go have a couple of drinks, I highly recommend the bar at Michael Mina. They have yummy, though not cheap, bar snacks (lobster corndogs and truffle popcorn) and wonderful creative drinks. Last, but certainly not least, if you want a great meal that is cheap by SF standards for a nice meal, go to A16 (http://www.a16sf.com/) The two of us spilt an app, both had entrees and a bottle of great wine for $75 before tip. It's also fantastic. Try the burrata and/or the polenta ravioli if they have them. We had a reservation one night, but we went back again another night and only waited twenty minutes I think. There is this great little theatre across the street to catch a movie at.
Oh, I haven't even gotten to my suggestions for Napa/Sonoma.
The bar at Cyrus in Healdsburg for the best drinks and if you can get a reservation the BEST meal ever. I spent my 29th birthday there and it made it all best. Two words for you....champagne cart! OH and for my birthday they sent me fresh out of the over chocolate chip cookies in a glass dome with a balloon attached that blew chocolate confetti all over the cookies! Oh and mini chocolate egg creams with a silver straw. It was awesome.
If you can get a reservation to do a tasting at Quintessa, I highly recommend it. The do a private tasting paired with local napa cheese and crackers and then give you a tour of their place. It's very neat. It was my favorite tasting and it happens to be GREAT wine.
I am so jealous! Have fun!
kate had a lot of good suggestions ... if you end up near the ferry building, north beach/chinatown or downtown, you should check out jackson square too (btw, i just did a little summary of the area)
niiiiiicccee. i'll be able to regain all my weight and buy things for my new apartment!
